Some wellbeing apps and digital services are able to retrieve patient data from Kanta. You can use your patient data in a more versatile way by giving the apps permission to use your patient data. Wellbeing apps include various types of health apps, among others.
The first apps are expected to be available in spring 2025.
How do I deploy an app that can retrieve my patient data from Kanta?
Select an app. Check the list on this page to make sure that the app is connected to Kanta.
Download the app. Only download apps from official app stores or links listed on this page.
Install the app.
Log in to the app. You will need to use strong identification to log in to the app.
In the app, find the option where you can give your consent to retrieve your data from Kanta.
The app will guide you to Suomi.fi identification. Choose your preferred identification method, such as online banking codes or a mobile certificate.
Please read the terms and conditions, and give your consent for your data to be retrieved. Your patient data will only be visible in the apps if you separately consent to this in the app.
In MyKanta, you can view and remove access rights for wellbeing apps. Access rights are automatically removed one year after the last use.
How do I use the app safely?
The Kanta Services check that applications using Kanta data are secure to use and meet the set requirements. Applications that can retrieve data from Kanta are approved by the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health, Valvira.
Make sure that the app you are using is approved by the Kanta Services. The list below on this page enables you to check which apps are allowed to retrieve patient data from Kanta.
