Social welfare services data will become available in MyKanta in North Ostrobothnia
Clients will soon also be able to view their social welfare services client data in MyKanta. In the first phase, information will start to be available to clients of the North Ostrobothnia wellbeing services county. The data will become available in phases.
Clients of the North Ostrobothnia wellbeing services county, Pohde, will soon be able to see not only their health care data in the MyKanta online service, but also their data recorded in social welfare services.
– This is a major change in the information systems. Our goal is that the first client data on social welfare services will be available in MyKanta on 30 November 2023, says Marjo Hirvonen, Specialist in Kela’s Kanta Services.
Information is easy to check in MyKanta
– The major benefit for clients is that in the future, they will be able to see information on both health care and social welfare services in MyKanta with a single login, says Hirvonen.
The client can use MyKanta to view documents that have been drawn up about them when using social welfare services. These documents include, for example, decisions and plans. In addition, you can check in MyKanta, for example, the starting date of your client relationship and the contact information of the designated employee in charge of your affairs.
In the past, most of this information may have been sent to the client only on paper. When the information is in MyKanta, it is stored safely and easily available. If the client does not use digital services themselves, they can authorise someone close to them to take care of matters on their behalf, in which case the information will also be visible to them in MyKanta.
For Pohde clients, social welfare data will be made available in phases
In the initial phase, all social welfare services data will only be available in MyKanta in the localities where data is recorded in the new Saga client information system. The new system is currently in use in Hailuoto, Tyrnävä, Lumijoki, Siikalatva and Kärsämäki. In addition, in the North Ostrobothnia wellbeing services county, clients will start to see their data recorded on family law services and disability services in MyKanta.
Not all information, however, will be available in MyKanta. In MyKanta, the client cannot see, for example, documents related to the determination of parenthood, documents related to shelter services and work to prevent domestic and intimate partner violence, payment commitments or deleted documents.
– Pohde has decided that the availability of child welfare reports and reports of concern in MyKanta will be restricted until they have been processed with the client. In this way, MyKanta will not be the first source where the client receives information about a child welfare notification or a report of concern, says Leena Pimperi-Koivisto, Social Director at Pohde.
In other regions as well, data on social welfare services will be gradually added to MyKanta
Client data in wellbeing services counties and private social welfare services will be available in MyKanta during 2023–2026. In order for the information to be available in MyKanta, social welfare service providers must first make the required technical changes to their information systems.
Not all information on social welfare services is entered in MyKanta at once, but data starts becoming available step by step from the various services. The Client Data Act specifies when data on different social welfare services must be stored in the Kanta Services in a format that enables them to be displayed in MyKanta.
In the future, data on social welfare services will also be shared between different providers of social welfare services with the help of the Kanta Services, if the client has consented to data sharing. In this way, the information will follow the client if, for example, they move from one wellbeing services county to another or use both public and private social welfare services. The client can give consent to data sharing in MyKanta. Later, it can also be done in the social care unit.
