Each service enabler using the Kanta Services uses at least one Kanta access point. An access point is a point of data communications through which the information system of a service enabler that has deployed the Kanta Service is connected to the Kanta services. For more information, see the page Technical connection models.
Access point
An access point must be implemented with a system approved by Valvira. The system must be a category A1 client data transfer service as specified in the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare regulation 4/2024 (thl.fi, in Finnish) or category A2 or A3 information system connected with the Kanta services.
A server certificate issued by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (dvv.fi) will be installed in the Kanta access point operating in production use. It allows the user of the online service to verify the authenticity of the service provider. Server certificates also allow for the encryption of the communications between the server and its user.
The organisation managing the access point must provide the details of the access point to the Kanta Services. The information is submitted using the Notification of change of access point (pdf, in Finnish).
If necessary, the addresses of the production environments of the Kanta Services and the party identifiers for the message traffic required for the implementation of a new access point can be requested from kanta@kanta.fi.
The access point’s information must be added to Kanta before the service enabler deploying the Kanta Services can join the service using the access point in question.
Data communications
A private network’s data communication link must primarily be used in the access point to guarantee the availability and quality of the service. The organisation that manages the access point must announce the data communication links used in the access point when submitting information about a new access point to the Kanta Services on the Notification of change of access point (pdf, in Finnish).
The functionality of the data connections between the Kanta Services and the Kanta access point can be tested using a connection test. Testing the connection is possible after the organisation managing the access point has submitted the information about the access point to Kanta and received confirmation that the required data links have been opened. Instructions on how to complete the connection test can be requested from kanta@kanta.fi.
Change situations
Changes include, for example, a change in the OID code in the data links of an access point.
The organisation managing the access point shall announce any changes taking place in the access point or its data communication links to the Kanta Services with a Notification of change of access point (pdf, in Finnish) or by contacting the Kanta Services by email to kanta@kanta.fi.
If the change to the access point affects the use of the Kanta Services by social welfare and health care service providers (e.g. a change in the OID code of the access point), you must contact Kanta service support at kanta@kanta.fi.
