Notice Written on 11.7.2024 All notices

MyKanta, Finland’s most popular social welfare and health care online service, will be providing assistance in health matters throughout the holiday season. Important information will travel with you from one wellbeing services county to another and even abroad with the Kanta Services. Find out how we assist holidaymakers.

Health data goes on holiday with you

Are you wondering what the doctor said at your last appointment or what your test results were? You can easily check this information in MyKanta, where you can log in at kanta.fi, even from a summer cabin.

If you need health care services while you are at a summer cabin or during a holiday trip, your data will travel between wellbeing services counties with the help Kanta. This means that you can get medical care and be confident that your doctor has access to your data when needed.

You can check your vaccination information in MyKanta

If you have taken the tick vaccine and spend a lot of time in nature, it is good to make sure that your vaccines are up to date. You can check when you were last vaccinated in MyKanta.

You can also check the details of your other vaccinations in MyKanta. Vaccination information is available in MyKanta from 2013 onwards if it was stored in Kanta by your health care provider. Some vaccination information will not be visible in MyKanta, and you can check this information on your vaccination card or at the health centre where you received the vaccine.

You can request a prescription renewal in MyKanta

Did you forget to renew your own or your child’s prescription before going on holiday? You can  easily check in MyKanta when your prescription expire and request a renewal.

The request will be transferred via Kanta to a health care provider, where the request will be received and processed by a doctor or a nurse.

Health data are also transferred across Europe

You can give your consent in MyKanta to the use of your health data for the purpose of providing care also by health care providers in other European countries. Initially, the data will be available in Estonian health care.

Kanta provides secure and reliable interfaces for the transfer of data from one country to another. Information about allergies, medications, or medical history is important, especially in an emergency.

Please remember to take your European Health Insurance Card with you on holiday.

Prescription medications can be purchased abroad

In addition to Finland, a Finnish electronic prescription can be used to purchase medicines in five EU countries: Estonia, Spain, Croatia, Poland, and Portugal. Other countries require a paper prescription in English. If necessary, be prepared to prove your right to carry your medicines with you when passing through customs.
