Authorising another person to manage affairs in MyKanta

Authorising another person to manage affairs in MyKanta

Another person may act on your behalf in MyKanta if they have a Suomi.fi e-Authorization granted for this purpose. You can grant a mandate even if you do not use online services or have online banking codes.

A mandate means that another person has the right to manage your affairs in MyKanta on your behalf. It is up to you to decide what mandates you grant and to whom you grant them.

The mandates required to manage affairs in MyKanta

There are two different mandates for managing affairs in MyKanta:

You can grant both mandates, so that your trusted person can manage both your health and social welfare affairs in MyKanta. You can also grant a mandate for the management of only your health affairs or only your social welfare affairs.

How do I authorise another person to act on my behalf?

The easiest way to independently authorise your trusted person is by using the Suomi.fi online service. There are also other options for granting mandates. On this page you will find a guideline of the different options.

If you use electronic identification methods, such as online banking codes or a mobile certificate, you can assign e-Authorizations to a trusted person through Suomi.fi e-Authorizations.

  1. Identify yourself in the Suomi.fi online service (suomi.fi).
  2. Enter the details of the person you want to authorise to act on your behalf.
  3. Select the mandate ‘Terveydenhuollon asioiden hoito’ (Managing matters related to health care), ‘Sosiaalihuollon asioiden hoito’ (Managing matters related to social welfare services), or both, and specify a period of validity.
  4. Check the information you provided and confirm the authorisation.

Further information on granting authorisation: Granting mandates as a person (suomi.fi).

Your loved one can request a mandate to manage your social welfare and health care affairs in the Suomi.fi online service. The mandates are for Managing matters related to health care and Managing matters related to social welfare services. You need to approve the request from your loved one, before its validity as a mandate starts.

If you do not have a means of electronic identification and you are unable to visit a Digital and Population Data Services Agency service point to identify yourself, you can grant authorisation with a mandate application.

You can find the mandate application online: Authorization by application (suomi.fi).

More detailed instructions are provided in the Digital and Population Data Services Agency online service: Granting mandates if you are unable to use electronic services (suomi.fi).
